It took a while, but most things are back the way they were with the exception of some videos that I posted on Microsoft’s Soapbox. That service no longer exists, so the videos are gone.

I’m hoping to vet back to updating this site more regularly. I have some Powertel scripts that may be useful for Symantec Endpoint Protection admin. I’ve been the AV admin for a Fortune 500 company for the last 4 years. If you are a SEP admin, you know the product…hmmm…isn’t all it should be. I’ve had to write a number if scripts to fix broken defs, fix corrupt policies, audit the AV health on about 14,000 computers in the enterprise, and report those findings. If you are an admin struggling with this, you may want to stay tuned.

On another note, I got a HTC Droid Incredible and I love it! I was hoping to get an iPhone, but was unwilling to leave Verizon to get it. Having played with the Incredible, I have no desire for an iPhone any longer. The open nature of the Android OS that runs on the Incredible, outlines the iPhone’s closed platform…oh, by the way, it costs about $200 – $300 less than the iPhone. The Android Marketplace is huge and continues to grow rapidly. It has a multitude of games and apps, like the free Wordpress app I’m using to make this post.

Another 40 minutes.  This time, roughly the same cardio circuits, but with pushups and other shoulder and leg exercises thrown in for good measure.  I’m thinking P90X may be easier.

If I send in before and after pictures, they say I can get a T-Shirt for completing INSANITY.  I’ma get my damn T-Shirt.  I’ll post them here…if I have the courage to do so.

It’s essentially cardio circuits over and over and over.  This stuff is HARD!

Should sleep well tonight.

I started a new workout today.  Another Beachbody workout called INSANITY. 

 

Based on the way I felt after the fit test, I think I know where the name came from.  It appears to be 60 days of INTENSE cardio exercise, which will (hopefully) help me lose the nearly 20 pounds I’ve added since the Chicago Marathon.

 

My intent is to write about this on a daily basis to let the internets know how it’s going and also as a sort of accountability to myself.  The Fit Test was difficult.  I was ready to puke on the spot.  Tomorrow’s workout is called Plyometric Cardio Circuit.  It looks really intense.

 

More tomorrow…if I’m able to move.

We got a visit from Skyelar the other day.  It’d been a while since we’d seen her and she’s now crawling…sort of.  She was well on her way to crawling to get some coasters until I dug the camera out to get the event on film.  Dawn eventually had to go grab some toys that she wanted even more.

However, the Godfather of sim racing, Dave Kaemmer, teamed up with John Henry (principle owner of the Boston Red Sox) to create the most epic online racing service ever – iRacing.  After spending time behind the wheel of the many cars iRacing has to offer, none of the other sims I used to frequent feel the same.  The level of realism and attention to detail is amazing.  All the tracks are laser scanned, so all bumps, small and large, are there.

Anyway, here are the rides I’m running for this season.  The Riley is assuming I can get my Safety Rating up high enough to be able to run in that series (here’s hoping).

It wasn’t always pretty, but we are both now in “the club”. You know, the club you get in when you finish a marathon? No? Neither did I until today.

The course itself was definitely hard — if any normal human being tells you running 26.2 miles is easy, have them committed. There were some pretty substantial hills on this course (I thought Indiana was a plains state?) and there a couple of places where we were literally trail running. A large portion of the course was also very narrow; we were pretty much bumping those runners on the return trip.

Dawn and I crossed the finish line at exactly the same time, but due to a technical issue (I had to go to the bathroom before I crossed the line), I ran a few seconds faster than her.

As far as the marathon itself — organizationally and otherwise — what a contrast from the Chicago Marathon! Starting with the weather, Chicago was a toasty 88 degrees while Indy was a much cooler — but still a bit warm — 73 degrees.

From an organizational point, in Indy we always just felt like we knew where and when we were supposed to be.  Chicago was just chaotic from the very beginning.  Granted, there were fewer than 5000 entries in Indy, but just because it’s harder to organize more runners, doesn’t excuse poor organization.

While we were standing at the start line, the organizers began making last minute announcements.  There was an announcement telling half marathoners to turn at 12.5 miles and full marathoners to run straight (apparently somebody goes the wrong way every year, despite a team of people telling them which way to go).  At one point an announcement was made that there were 21 aid stations along the course (there were only 15 in Chicago) and from all over the crowd, you could hear people cheering.  It wasn’t the whole crowd, just those of us who had been in Chi-town two weeks before.

In any case, I’m done with marathons…this year…maybe.
