P90X – Extreme Home Fitness

P90X I’ve been into weightlifting, running, and fitness in general for several years now.  Last year, after watching the Infomercial Channel (they really have one!), I bought P90X.  Seems like an impulse buy at first, but I’d heard a lot about it for several years and decided to give it a go.

This is week three of the 12 week program and I’m really enjoying the workouts.  They are extremely challenging and very satisfying after you make through each workout – especially Yoga X, which I consider to be the most difficult workout by far.

Today was one of my favorite workouts, Shoulders and Arms.  It’s nothing but raw, good old fashioned weightlifting.  Tomorrow is a martial arts inspired workout called Kenpo X.  There is a lot of punching, kicking, and heaving breathing.

If you are into fitness and looking for something new, I highly recommend P90X.  I’ll post the results after 90 days.

Run Log Update

Some of you may have noticed that my run log hasn’t show any distance for some time.  That’s because Runner’s World’s Training Log has not been calculating those distances.  I’ve since begun using Running Ahead for most of my Training Log entries, except for the personal bests.

That means that all of the miles I put in last year and part of this year don’t show up. I’m hopeful that there will be a method to import all of those miles in to Running Ahead.  We’ll see.

Ladies and Gentlemen…Start Your Engines

The Indy Mini is just around the corner. We’re really looking forward to it this year for a number of reasons…not the least of which is due to the fact that we’ve all run at least one of these so we know what to expect. Last year, I was dog tired at the end and was sick for about four days after that. I’ve run the Mini and two full marathons since then, so I’m a little more confident in my ability to run the thing.

Training is in full swing (check the run log…after I update the scripts) and my goal for this year is to run it in under two hours.

Check back soon.

Rock Band

If you haven’t noticed by my Gamercard above, I’ve been playing quite a bit of Rock Band lately (pitiful Gamerscore notwithstanding). It’s a great party game because you can have one person playing guitar, one playing bass (provided you have an extra guitar), one singing, and one playing drums. Good fun!

One major issue with Rock Band is that the drums are incredibly loud. As such, there are several mods floating around teh intarnets to help remediate this issue. Below are some of the ones that seem to be most accepted amongst the geek culture.
